2023 hat die renommierte Dramatikerin Theresia Walser für das Kunstfest Weimar in Koproduktion mit Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg sowie Fundamental dem luxemburgischen Schauspieler Steve Karier mit „EschenLiebe“ einen Monolog auf den Leib geschrieben. Er erzählt die ungewöhnliche Liebesgeschichte eines Mannes zu einem Baum. Um bei seinen Arbeitskolleg*innen nicht aus dem Rahmen zu fallen, serviert Luc Teichmann Beziehungsgeschichten, die er beim Tramfahren aufschnappt. Geschichten_Recycling nennt er das. Es wäre ja auch viel zu schade, wenn gute Geschichten immer nur einem gehören würden. Teichmanns wahre Geschichte kennt hingegen niemand. Bisher hat er sich nicht getraut, sich zu outen. Wie sollte er es auch sagen? Tut mir leid, aber ich liebe eine Esche!?

Wann immer Teichmann kann, besucht er seine Geliebte, die er zärtlich Ash nennt. Morgens vor der Arbeit, manchmal spät nachts noch, wenn er nicht schlafen kann. In heißen Sommernächten versorgt er sie mit Wasser und streicht beruhigend über ihre Rinde …

Gezeigt wird eine kurze Skizze mit Auszügen aus dem Text; die Uraufführung findet am 24. August 2023 am Kunstfest Weimar statt.

Cosmos (not enough) is a stream of consciousness, a reflection and research on unequal perception, memory and reality, on being a woman, being a man, being oneself, on relationship, desire, lust, love, polarity, erotic attraction and the different experience of space and time.

“Words like … - What is a word?”

Based on a project of lyrical prose, word collages and illustrations, created in 2021* Ley further develops the hybrid text form of her Cosmos (not enough) as an interdisciplinary performance that combines storytelling, images, sounds, music, and movement into an experimental playground. 

"Words like words. Are not enough, not for me, not enough." 

For Monolabo, Sascha Ley and Krischan Kriesten are working in artistic collaboration on individual chapters for the upcoming performance in 2024 and will show the first station of their work in progress.

A man stands in a pool of light in front of a room of silent strangers ready and willing to believe he’s a real person. But he tells us he is only an actor – that his words and ideas belong to someone else. The more he tells us, the less we think for ourselves. We are truly in the dark.

What if everything we believe and experience is an illusion designed to make us forget all that’s important? Are we alone on our own private stages? Part of what’s happening or merely watching? 

A thought provoking comic journey beyond the 4th Wall into the dangerous slippery territory that lies beneath the written word – and right before our eyes.
