E Film vu Richtung22

There's a shark in the "Stauséi" (reservoir lake at Esch-sur-Sûre)! A push notification from RTL1 shakes the whole country in an instant. For Joëlle Zander, CEO of RTL1, it's an incredible opportunity to give her new programme 'Kontext' a much-needed boost. For RTL1 journalists, it's their chance to deliver the story that will launch their careers - live from the 'Stauséi'.

Richtung22 is a committed arts collective whose projects, try to formulate creative critiques and initiate important discussions about social issues. They aim to polarise in order to make problems visible and to break art out of its elitist framework. Since 2010, they have produced satirical projects such as the film "Notre éducation" about the Luxembourg school system and the play "Luxembourg, saleté sournoise", in which they dramatised nation branding. Since 2014, they've worked in a much more multidisciplinary way, trying to bring art into the public space. They erect monuments, like the one to the director of the CSSF, who was implicated in a financial scandal. They organise exhibitions, such as that of the fictitious National Gallery, with which they question national cultural policy in Luxembourg, or the exhibition "Luxembourg Colonial Memory", for which they dismantled street signs bearing the names of colonial criminals and hung them in a museum. Their biggest project series to date, "High culture instead of blast furnaces", documents the transformation and gentrification of the Minett as part of the cultural capital Esch2022. In addition to artistic production, Richtung22 is synonymous with supporting young artists. Richtung22 was set up in 2010 with the aim of allowing students to network during the university holidays by means of projects in Luxembourg and thus to build a local alternative space. Theirs is a space of freedom, a safe space and a laboratory for the future. They get involved in cultural policy discussions and lobby for the younger generation and for local artistic creation. Pupils aged 18 and over, students and young professionals work in autonomous, non-hierarchical and democratic working groups. Since 2021, they have had a permanent home in Bâtiment 4 in Esch. The group is open to anyone who wants to join together in fighting for a fairer world through artistic means.
