In Materia, Italian circus artist Andrea Salustri elevates polystyrene — that omnipresent plastic derivative — into a fully-fledged stage partner. Throughout this extraordinary choreographic journey, the performer gradually steps back to make way for the object and an immersive, hypnotic sensory experience.
Under the amazed gaze of both young and old, the material awakens — gliding, vibrating, floating, shifting from delicate hesitations to dynamic movements that balance moments of serenity and bursts of chaos. Salustri’s performance does not impose a narrative but instead invites each viewer to let their imagination wander, guided by the spellbinding imagery on display.
