Boum Boum : Politiques du dancefloor

Book presentation and discussion with Arnaud Idelon, moderated by Nicole Olenskaia

As part of the Common Ground exhibition, this event is a book presentation and discussion around Boum Boum: Politiques du dancefloor
by Arnaud Idelon.

The conversation explores the dancefloor as a space where forms of the “common” are continuously produced, negotiated, and sometimes contested. Drawing from nightlife cultures, club spaces, and contemporary festival economies, Idelon reflects on how collective experiences of music and movement can generate temporary but powerful social bonds while also being shaped, and at times absorbed, by capitalist and political structures.

In dialogue with the Common Ground exhibition, the event extends the reflection on shared spaces beyond institutional or urban frameworks, focusing instead on ephemeral, embodied, and affect-driven forms of togetherness.

The discussion will be moderated by Nicole Olenskaia, and will open a conversation between theory, lived experience of nightlife, and cultural practice within contemporary “common” spaces. The format combines a short presentation of the book followed by a moderated discussion, opening space for exchange with the audience.
