Biergerbühn

The 'Biergerbühn' project was created in 2017 in response to the lack of theatre workshops for children and teenagers in the Esch-Alzette area. With the Biergerbühn, ILL creates a space for meeting and exchange where citizens from all walks of life are supervised by performing arts professionals in weekly and/or one-off workshops to discover and practise different facets of the performing arts: acting, dance, movement, improvisation, writing, costume and prop making... Citizens exercise their creativity by participating in a theatrical creation that reflects their questions and visions of the world. For Esch2022, the Biergerbühn is planning two highlights: 'Der Besuch der alten Dame' by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, directed by Claire Thill in a co-production with the Escher Theater (premiere date: 8/10/2021) and 'Doheem', a collective creation by the citizens with the professional artists of ILL. This second part, under the artistic direction of Elsa Rauchs and Claire Wagener, will be an almost documentary exploration of the city of Esch as a place of life, public space and historical backdrop. In order to produce these two creations, ILL is calling for the participation of citizens who are curious to discover the world of live performance!
