Kufa's Urban Art Esch

“Kufa’s Urban Art Esch” has come a long way since it started at the Kulturfabrik Arts Centre in 2014... After over eighty art works dotted across ten cities in Luxembourg and the Greater Region, the project is now refocused on Esch-sur-Alzette. The project’s 7th edition took place between April and July 2021 and offered a vast programme which included works from local and international artists, a conference, a “Braderie urbaine” (street market), participatory and inclusive projects, meetings, guided tours, etc.

And… the project is set to continue between September and November 2021!

To round off the first series which started in the spring, the Kulturfabrik, the City of Esch-sur-Alzette and the Luxembourg National Rail Company (CFL) are inviting four artists to create various works (wall frescoes, art that interacts with nature, etc.) at Esch-sur-Alzette Railway Station. As the city’s main point of access, the railway station will be ready to provide a fitting welcome to the thousands of people who will come to Esch in 2022 when Esch will be European Capital of Culture.

Jaune (BE)

Location: Esch Railway Station / Boulevard J. F. Kennedy

Dates: 27 September to 3 October 2021

Type of artwork: minimalist painting

Jaune’s street art mural reveals a world of miniature workers making visible work which can often be invisible… Tiny workers (40 cm) will be placed in several places in the station, paying homage to all those who often work in the shadows, but without whom travelling by train would not be possible.
